Documentation

Import and export requires five documents: three main documents and, if needed, two supporting documents. We will compile all required documents while we take care of the cargo pick up. In order to guarantee smooth customs clearance, the above mentioned documents are listed and explained below:

  • Invoice and packing list: After being approached by the customer, a list of invoice and a packing list is required in order to inform the customs about the cargo shipment.
  • Air Waybill (AWB)/ Bill of Lading (B/L): The AWB is a unique number to transport cargo through air and B/L is a unique number to transport cargo over sea. These numbers are also enabling to track your cargo's whereabouts.
  • Certificate of Origin (COO): The certificate of origin can be used to reduce import tax at destination and is provided by the Trade of Origin country. It is based on a bilateral agreement between Trade Departments of two countries or within certain zones.
  • Certificate of Fumigation: Wooden material/packaging requires a fumigation process, to suffocate or poison the pests within, in order to prevent bark, bacteria or any other diseases from spreading. When the wood is fumigated, the fumigator will provide a certificate to guarantee smooth customs clearance. Showing these documents will assure the safety of exporting or importing the cargo.
  • Certificate of ISPM (International Standard Phytosanitary Measurements): The fumigator stamps the wood with a mark of compliance to confirm that the wood is fumigated and safe to import or export.
